My self introduction by Daiki (Rubu)

About my working knowledge of English

Hello! I'm Rubu. Today, I will write essay about my knowledge of English.

I have studied English roughly since junior high school. In the previous context, the

word, "roughly" is the significant word in this essay. In this essay, I use the sentence "I

have studied English roughly since junior high school", which means "I have attended

English class to no purpose". Therefore, my working knowledge of English is

immensely poor, especially about grammar. I think that grammar is important above all

else, to learn English. Grammar shapes rules. So we cannot speak, write, read

(understand correct significance) without comprehension of grammar. In addition, I

know little of vocabulary. I studied English vocabulary using vocabulary notebook

before I enter this university. Still, I haven't studied English vocabulary for two years.

Due to my poor working knowledge of English, I cannot speak, chat, write, and

read English. For example, when I read foreign books written in English, I can't

understand through the book. For an instance, ''The Catcher in the Rye". Reading books

is one of my hobbies. Though, I have no one particular favorite

author. I read a lot of books with by J.D.Salinger that have been translated in Japanese.
Catcher in the

Rye, Nine stories, Franny and Zooey, Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters, and

Seymor: An Introduction Stories. Reading those books, I thought that I want to read

the original. Then, I bought an original book at the bookstore in Kanda. However, I can't
read through the book.

The above is outline of my poor working knowledge of English.
