Nuclear electric energy by Ai Midorikawa

We must find new clean energy because we are facing the problem that fossil fuels will run out. Nuclear electro energy is very dangerous but we depend on nuclear energy. 54 nuclear power plants (4 nuclear power plants are stopped) are in Japan and we use energy from it about 23% of all energy. We discovered nuclear energy is dangerous when a big earthquake caused the disaster at the Fukushima. In my opinion, we shouldn’t use nuclear electric energy. There are two reasons. First, nuclear electric energy is very dangerous. Second, this emits some radioactive wastes to the future.
First, nuclear electric energy may cause to a big accident. According to Wikipedia “Nuclear power”, “Nuclear power plant accidents include the Chernobyl disaster (1986), the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster (2011), and the Three Mile Island accident (1979). Nuclear-powered submarine mishaps include the K-19 reactor accident (1961), the K-27 reactor accident (1968), and the K-431 reactor accident (1985).” There were many accidents caused by nuclear power.
Second, when nuclear energy is created, waste is emitted. According to an article entitled, "what is nuclear? " on the Web site a group of young nuclear engineers,”the relatively small amount of nuclear fuel that goes into reactors becomes very nasty radioactive nuclear waste when it comes out. … Consequently, nuclear energy has a generally poor reputation among environmentalists and concerned families worldwide. This waste is not released to the environment”. I think we throw the waste to the future.
In conclusion, I think we should not use nuclear power, because it may be so dangerous and the waste is emitted. However, we should think fossil fuels will run out in the near future and global warming is causing. We should think a new energy system or the way to use fossil fuels to the long term.

  1. I agree to your opinion. It is so difficult to solve the energy problems.

  2. I strongly agree with you especially in the second reason.
There are the bad effects in the future that we cannot see today, which is really dangerous.
But how can we get new energy source? Do you have any opinion?
